WIPO has added approximately three million Chinese patent documents to its searchable online database, PATENTSCOPE, bringing the number of searchable records to more than 32 million.

Users can access English bibliographic data for Chinese patents and patent applications from 1985 to 1995. Records from 1996 onwards include bibliographic data in both English and Chinese, together with descriptions and claims in Chinese.

PATENTSCOPE provides the full text of international Patent Cooperation Treaty applications on their publication date and now covers 34 countries and regions. Because new technologies and inventions are often first disclosed in international patent applications, the database is valuable for monitoring technological developments worldwide.
