CNIPA pointed out on May 10, 2021 that it will continue to compress the examination cycles of trademarks and patents, as follows.
Deepen the use of AI, big data, and other technologies in the examination of trademarks and patents, and optimize the functions of intelligent systems for patent examination and search, to provide support for improving the quality and efficiency of examination. By the end of 2021, in China, the average examination cycle for trademark registration will be stabilized within4 months, and the trademark registration cycle under general circumstances will be compressed from 8 months to 7 months. In 2021, 1.35 million cases of invention patent examination will be concluded, and the invention patent examination cycle will be compressed from 20 months to 18.5 months.
