〇In November 2025, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) announced that the average examination period for invention patents in China has been reduced to 15 months, while the average examination period for trademark registrations remains stable at 4 months. Both figures represent the fastest levels internationally under comparable examination systems.
〇From January to November 2025, CNIPA received a total of 62,000 PCT international patent applications. Among these, 57,500 were filed by domestic applicants, while 4,524 were filed by foreign applicants.
〇As of December 2025, China has 6,178 patent agencies and 41,500 practicing patent agents, with a domestic patent agency utilization rate of 92.8%.
