(The number of the patent applications in China)
In 2013, SIPO received a total of 2,377,000 applications for invention, utility model and design with a year-on-year growth of 15.9% , 825,000 of which were invention applications with a year-on-year growth of 26.3%. 208,000 invention patents were granted with a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%.
The application and grant of the invention patents in 2013 has three features:
1. The received invention applications reached 825,000 more than 1/3 of the total for the first time, including 705,000 domestic invention patents grew by 31.8% year-on-year.
2. The number of granted invention patents dropped slightly. Among the granted patents, there were 144,000 domestic patents, same with the amount of the year of 2012, while the granting of foreign patents fell 12.3% year-on-year.
3. The dominant position of the creator of the corporate intellectual property was gradually firmed. Chinese enterprises filed 427,000 invention applications, accounting for 60.6% of total domestic applications.
