The China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) pointed out the following priorities for 2023.
Reduce the examination period for invention patent applications to 16 months within 2023, with a case-closing accuracy rate above 93%. Examine utility model applications for obvious lack of inventiveness, design applications for obvious lack of distinctiveness, and international applications. Launch the intelligent patent examination system.
Maintain the trademark registration cycle at seven months and reduce the opposition examination period from 11 months to less than 10 months.
Issue and implement the Measures for Quality Management and Supervision of Trademark Examination and Trial, maintaining a pass rate above 97% in sample quality checks.
Continue addressing abnormal patent applications and bad-faith trademark registrations.
