Question:

Which country/region has launched the Collaborative Search Pilot Program (CSP) with China?

Answer:

CNIPA and KIPO launched the China–Republic of Korea Collaborative Search Pilot Program on January 1, 2019. The pilot was scheduled to run for two years or until a total of 400 eligible applications had been accepted, whichever occurred first.

The CSP is a joint work-sharing pilot program, through which the two offices intend to concurrently conduct searches on counterpart patent applications and exchange the search reports. Thereafter the two offices will issue office actions independently and finish the examination procedure independently. The purpose of this program is to improve the examination quality on counterpart patent applications and accelerate examination speed.
