A system for validating Chinese patents in Cambodia was introduced from March 28, 2018, simplifying the procedure for obtaining Cambodian patent protection based on corresponding Chinese patents.
The system was expected to provide a faster and more cost-effective route to protection in Cambodia.
The anticipated documents for submission to Cambodia’s Ministry of Industry and Handicraft were an application form, a certified copy of the Chinese patent, a patent registration certificate and a Khmer translation of the patent. Only a licensed Cambodian patent agent could file the validation request.
