To further enhance the electronic level of trademark review and adjudication, and strengthen the effective connection between administration and justice, the Trademark Office of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) announced that, starting from November 1, 2022, trademark agencies shall in principle submit electronic applications for review of rejection through the trademark online service system, and paper materials will no longer be accepted.
In order to rapidly and significantly increase the rate of online applications for opposition, review and cancellation of non-use for three consecutive years, the Trademark Office issued temporary work measures: formulating and releasing guidelines for online application as well as online defense of opposition, review of rejection, invalidation and cancellation of non -use for three consecutive years, effectively guiding applicants and trademark agencies to exploit the current online application system to deepen understanding and improve efficiency.
